Harry Young is a Southwest Officer and Project Sponsor, who brings 40 years of construction experience to his role at Shimmick. His experience covers a wide variety of heavy construction projects, including rail, transportation, water and wastewater treatment, power plants, and bridge construction and retrofitting.
Harry joined the Shimmick team in 2004 and was the project manager for the $205 million Robert A. Skinner Treatment Plant Oxidation Retrofit Program and Washwater Reclamation Plant. He then served as a project sponsor and chief estimator, and as the Project Manager for the Downtown San Bernardino Passenger Rail Project.
Prior to coming to Shimmick, Harry worked for multiple construction contractors and consultants. Key projects include work on multiple nuclear, geothermal, hydroelectric, and coal-fired power plants; the Cypress B Freeway Project in Oakland, CA; the Eastern Transportation Corridor toll road design/build project in Southern CA; the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Retrofit Project; and post-tensioning work for the San Rafael-Richmond Bridge and the Hood Canal Floating Bridge.
Harry is a registered Professional Engineer in California and Nevada. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1978.
