Winners for the 2006 Safety Awards were announced earlier this week in Sacramento. Awards were handed out in the category Under 200,000 Hours were:

1st Place-Nova Group, Inc., Napa; 2nd Place-Unger Construction Company, Sacramento; 3rd Place-Kaweah Construction Company, Fresno. In Over 500,000 Hours: 1st place-CDM Constructors, Inc., Rancho Cucamonga; 2nd Place-Panattoni Construction, Inc., Sacramento; 3rd Place-Harbison-Mahony-

Higgins Builders, Inc., Sacramento In Over 1,000,000 Hours: 1st Place-Hensel Phelps Construction Co., Irvine; 2nd Place-McCarthy Building Companies, Newport Beach; 3rd Place-Swinerton Builders, San Francisco.

The winner of Specialty Contractor was: Rosendin Electric, Inc., San Jose. The Safety Excellence on an Individual High Hazard Job was a three way tie: Harbison-Mahony-Higgins Builders, Inc. for South Placer County Courthouse; Shimmick/Obayashi JV for Golden Gate Bridge Seismic Retrofit, Phase II, San Francisco; and Teichert Construction for Hwy 80, Auburn.

The Individual Safety Effort of a Superintendent Award went to Mike Ricker from Clark Construction Group, Costa Mesa.

The Unique Safety Application Award went to McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., for Fall Rescue Kit & Training Program, Newport Beach. The Harry Eckstein Safety Professional of the Year went to Ronnie & Gibson from Nova Group, Inc., Napa. And last but not least, the award for the Associate Member Contribution to Industry Safety went to: Majorie Powerzanas from JoshuaCasey Corporation Training, Anaheim.
