Contract value: $4,895,000
The project requires Removal of Quint Street Bridge, originally construction in 1907, due to deteriorated condition. The structure will be replaced with an embankment comprised of cellular concrete and structural earthen fill. Prior to a weekend revenue service outage, the area beneath the existing structure is filled with cellular concrete. The cellular concrete extends to a Mechanically Stabilized Earth Wall (MSE Wall) on one end and will be encapsulated with structural fill on the other. During the rail outage, the steel structure, above the existing bridge colums (bents) will be removed and the remainder of the earthen embankment constructed and rail re-installed on top of the new fill. Approximately 2000 track feet of concrete ties will be installed ruing weekend single track outages after the cutover weekend. Additionally, the contract requires removal of the Jerrold Avenue Bridge Northern approach span and replacement with an earthen embankment and new track section.
