Owner: Crane Cove Park
Contract value: $4,110,000
Shimmick is performing Phase 1 of the Port of San Francisco’s Crane Cove Park renewal, providing new waterfront open space in place of inaccessible former industrial shoreline at historic Pier 70. Three buildings will be abated of hazardous materials and demolished and the site will be cleared of existing concrete slabs and miscellaneous debris. Two historic gantry cranes will be disassembled, cleaned and staged for future re-assembly. Foundations within the existing crane runways with 30” diameter CIDH piles will be built for future support of the gantry cranes. An embankment for the future extension of 19th street will be placed with wick drains and surcharge to settle the underlying compressible layers.
