The retrofit project included work at a number of Caltrain bridges (all under FRA jurisdiction) throughout the South Bay. In San Jose, the work consisted of adding seat extensions to seismic retrofit four railroad bridges. In Mountain View, the work included replacement of the Permante Creek Bridge (timber and steel beams) with a pre-cast concrete bridge. In Redwood City, the Redwood Creek Bridge (railroad rail with a 6-in concrete slab to cover the rail) was replaced with a new bridge constructed of I-beams and steel plate panels. In San Mateo, crash beams were installed at four bridges with low roadway clearance. And in San Francisco, storm drain replacement work was performed under active railroad tracks.
