John White, executive vice president of the Northwest Division, has more than 20 years of experience in heavy civil construction and a wide range of experience in managing complex heavy civil projects, including subway stations, heavy and light rail, bus transit, technical bridges, dams, diversions, habitat restoration, wastewater treatment, and commercial tower foundations. John is responsible for the overall performance of the Northwest Division. He plays a key role in determining potential contractor partners and oversees the implementation of the Northwest Division’s strategy.
During his time with Shimmick, John has worked on or led many successful jobs in both our Northwest and Southwest regions. Some of his key projects include the $175 million San Fernando Valley Bus Rapid Transit project, the $16 million Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant HVAC Upgrades project, the $16 million 620 Digesters Retrofit project in San Francisco, the $15 million Delta Mendota Canal Pumping Plant and Pipeline Construction project, the $40 million Folsom Dam Mormon Island Auxiliary Dam Structural Retrofit project, the $55 million Dumbarton Bridge Seismic Retrofit project, the Salesforce Tower Foundation Excavation project, and more than $250 million in contracts awarded to Shimmick at the Transbay Transit Center in Downtown San Francisco. John joined Shimmick in 2001 after spending three years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service.
John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of California, Davis.
