Starting in 2001, Shimmick has operated and maintained the Addison Airport under two back-to-back contracts. Situated in the densely developed north Dallas suburbs and business district, Addison is a general aviation airport which serves private, corporate, charter, and cargo aircraft and an FAA-designated reliever for DFW International Airport. The Town of Addison recognizes the airport as its ‘single most valuable asset’.
Relative to facility and airfield maintenance services, Shimmick has provided maintenance and management service for airfield pavements; runway, taxiway, and taxi lane safety areas; airfield guidance signs and lighting systems; all 50 individual airport-owned buildings and structures; airport perimeter fencing, automated controlled-access gates, and security lighting; airport grounds and landscaping; bulk fuel storage; and wildlife hazard mitigation.
