This project added a second light rail track between the Mountain View and Whisman stations in Mountain View. All improvements were fully operational for Super Bowl 50, which was held at Levi’s® Stadium in Santa Clara in February 2016.
The scope of work included the construction of a second light rail track from Mountain View Station to just short of the SR 85 overcrossing and also a new, longer storage track to replace the existing storage track located east of Mountain View Station. Work included the installation of communications and signal systems. Project work also shifted both Caltrain tracks closer to Evelyn Avenue to create room for the second light rail track. All work needed to be complete before the Super Bowl.
