02 Sep Shimmick Advances Construction on Husky 1 Haul Road Phase II Project
Shimmick is advancing construction on the Husky 1 Haul Road Phase II project for Itafos Conda in Soda Springs, Idaho. The project supports the development of critical infrastructure for the H1/NDR Mine and includes construction of the main haul road, drainage systems, a major culvert crossing, and associated environmental controls, as well as drilling and blasting in extremely steep terrain and potentially harsh environmental conditions.
Designed to improve long-term access and operational efficiency, the project encompasses significant earthwork, clearing and grubbing, topsoil management, balanced cut-and-fill operations, drilling and blasting, pond construction, and installation of erosion and sediment control measures. Shimmick’s work is carefully sequenced to support safe construction while maintaining compliance with environmental and mine safety requirements.
The project highlights Shimmick’s extensive experience delivering heavy civil infrastructure in active mining environments, including challenging steep slopes and demanding field conditions. With self-performed earthwork, drainage, and haul road construction capabilities, the team is executing the work with a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational coordination.
