Shimmick delivered design and construction services for this $1.6 billion design-build project, an 11.6-mile extension of Washington D.C.’s Metrorail towards Dulles International Airport. Work included utility relocation and right-of-way acquisition, preliminary engineering, project management, and procurement for five passenger stations, two tunnels, and nine bridges.

The project required multi-agency coordination with Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority, the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation, and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
