E320 South Bellevue project is part of Sound Transit’s 14-mile Eastlink Light Rail Extension project, approved by voters in 2008. The Eastlink Extension will connect the cities of Seattle, Mercer Island, Bellevue, and Redmond. The South Bellevue station is scheduled to open the light rail section to Overlake for revenue in 2023.
Construction of the E320 South Bellevue Extension includes a new South Bellevue Station; a 1,500-stall, multi-level parking garage; a traction power substation; two signal houses; 2.2 miles of elevated, retained cut, at-grade guideway; reconstruction of 112th Avenue NE over the light rail guideway; site restoration and related street improvements; accommodations for high-rail access to the guideway for maintenance vehicles; installation of direct fixation; and ballasted tracks.
Additional work includes stone column soil stabilization, embankment surcharge, deep soil mix, lightweight foamed concrete fill, irrigation, utility installation, fencing, and lighting.
