This project improved Adit 5/6 and Adit 8/9 access roads by grading and resurfacing the road with crushed rock. It enlarged Adit 5/6 and Adit 8/9 openings by replacing 3-foot diameter bulkheads with new 8-foot by 8-foot bulkhead doors. Enlarging the clearances and widening the Adits allowed vehicle access into the tunnel. The project included the installation of new pressure and turbidity instrumentation at two locations and installation of new pressure instrumentation at three locations. This project was completed under the Tunnel Safety Orders as referenced in Cal/OSHA Title 8 Regulations.
