The City of Santa Monica is decommissioning the airport, shortening the runway limits and the size and type of planes able to utilize the airport. This project was separated into two construction phases. Phase I was the demolition and rework of the taxiways to be repaired. This work included the addition of taxiway lighting and lighted signs to both ends and the new midfield taxiways, requiring work to be completed at night. Phase II consisted of reworking Taxiway B3 to allow for use of the current PAPI during Phase I. In addition to repair for the last taxiway, this phase also included all runway markings, rubber removal and crack sealing.
