Terminal 3 and 4 Shore Power

Terminal 3 and 4 Shore Power

Shimmick delivered shore-to-ship electrical infrastructure at Terminal 3 and Terminal 4 of the Port of Tacoma, supporting EPA-recommended environmental initiatives to reduce vessel emissions. The project included the installation of medium voltage (13.8kV to 6.6kV) power systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, walk-in enclosures, and 7.2kV shore power receptacles. Additional scope included trenching and wharf modifications, the installation of a shore power vault on Pier 3, and extensive coordination with Tacoma Power for metering, testing, and commissioning. Shimmick maintained a flexible 24-hour work window throughout construction to accommodate active port operations.
