12 May Shimmick Attends ENR’s 20th Annual GWIC Conference
Groundbreaking Women in Construction (GWIC) held their 20th anniversary conference in San Francisco in May. Shimmick staff attended this event as part of the company’s desire to empower and support female team members by providing professional and personal development opportunities to improve the experiences of women at Shimmick.
The GWIC conference is presented annually by Engineering News-Record (ENR) in partnership with Peckar & Abramson (P&A). Attendees at the conference are given the chance to listen to a keynote speaker followed by multiple presentations and panel discussions along with dozens of roundtables, 1-on-1 chats, message boards, and educational sessions. Attendees are also encouraged to participate in their own individual networking and relationship-building efforts. The goal of the conference is to help women expand their presence, influence, and success within the construction industry. It is one of the leading talent development and networking events for construction industry professionals.
