Shimmick Breaks Ground on Bollinger Canyon Road Overcrossing Project

On May 18, the Myers-Shimmick JV team participated in a groundbreaking at Iron Horse Trail in San Ramon, CA, to mark the start of work on the Bollinger Canyon Road Overcrossing project. People in attendance included representatives from the City of San Ramon, Contra Costa Transportation Authority, MNS Engineers, and Myers Shimmick JV.

The Bollinger Canyon project involves the construction of a new 200 foot-long, 6-span cable-stayed pedestrian and bicycle overcrossing to create a grade separation for the Iron Horse Trail over Bollinger Canyon Road. The new overcrossing consists of a steel superstructure with a concrete deck. The superstructure is supported by a steel center pylon with stay-cables located in the median of Bollinger Canyon Road. The approaches to the bridge will be supported by mechanically stabilized earth abutments. New trail connections, landscaping, and draining facilities are also part of the project.
