Last month, Central Florida Expressway (CFX) Toll Operations Project commemorated Customer Service Week by celebrating five “shining star” field employees, nominated by plaza managers for their outstanding customer service. These employees have proven themselves well rounded in all aspects of the job. They are genuine with customers, have good attendance and money handling skills, and stand out from the crowd in a customer-facing roles. 

Training Coordinator Diane Berland led the effort, saying, “We wanted to recognize field workers who are the face of CFX. Collecting the tolls can be difficult and involve very redundant tasks. These people always come to work with a great attitude and keep our customers coming back.” 

Out of 10 manager nominations and a team of more than 300 people, five employees received the Shining Star Award.  

    

Gina Serrano, Former Toll Service Supervisor, Pine Hills Toll Plaza 

“Gina recently retired after 20-plus years of service. Gina was recognized for being that person with a smile and a kind word no matter what was going on.”

Joseph Sojin, Toll Collector, Conway Toll Plaza 

“Joseph was chosen for his endless dedication to great service. Joseph will work any shift any day and does it with a huge smile, no matter what.”

Felicia Robinson, Toll Attendant, Coral Hills Toll Plaza 

“Felicia is a plaza support trainer and doing an outstanding job in training the new hires. She’s a real asset to Coral Hills Plaza, and I am proud to have her as an employee.”

Patrice McCarthy, Toll Attendant, Dallas Plaza 

“One can see Patrice in the lane singing and moving around. In her dealings with the supervisory staff, she is always courteous and willing to help. I have observed TSA McCarthy’s overall demeaner, and she is an asset to have and has proved that she goes beyond what is expected.”

“Toll Attendant Cole has been willing to work in all three shifts, work doubles, and assist other plazas as needed. He is an employee who will always give his best for the benefit of the company.”
