Members of the United States Army Corps of Engineers and Congressman Chuck Fleischmann toured the Chickamauga Lock Chamber Replacement project on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Lieutenant General Scott Spellmon, USACE Commanding General and Chief of Engineers, and Lieutenant Colonel Sonny Avichal, USACE Nashville District Commander and District Engineer were part of the group that visited the project and met with Shimmick project management to express appreciation for the construction team’s efforts. During the visit, Lt. Col. Avichal awarded Shimmick Quality Control Manager, Larry Glover, with the USACE Commander’s Coin as a show of appreciation for his dedicated efforts on the project. Major General Robert Whittle, Commanding General and Division Engineer of the USACE Great Lakes and Ohio River Division congratulated the team for working more than one-million hours without a lost time incident.
