Following the devastating Palisades Fire, Shimmick rapidly mobilized to aid in debris removal and recovery operations in Los Angeles. Within 48 hours, crews and equipment were on-site, and coordination began with local, county, and state emergency agencies. The project required stabilizing hazardous terrain, managing environmental sensitivities, and navigating toxic debris—all while supporting a community in crisis. Shimmick staffed the project for several months with 119 union craft personnel, including 28 apprentices and 111 new local hires. This effort showcased Shimmick’s ability to deliver rapid, high-risk emergency response with technical precision.
