Shimmick’s work for this project included demolition of the existing final sampler trailer and the construction of a new concrete final effluent sampler building (FESB). Shimmick performed soil excavation and improvements to prepare the site as well.
Shimmick also relined the 120-inch short ocean outfall pipeline and slip-lined of two gravity pipelines; performed abrasive blasting at Surge Tower No.1, as well as coating, steel repair plate welding, spot corrosion repairs, and new stair installation.
Additional work included installation of approximately 4,000 linear feet of new 4-inch and 6-inch natural gas pipelines from the existing gas meter structure to existing tunnels as well as testing and commissioning of the new pipelines and removal of the existing pipelines.
