Shimmick Celebrates Women in Construction
Shimmick, and the construction industry as a whole, celebrated the 25th annual Women in Construction (WIC) Week March 5-11. The purpose of the week is to celebrate and promote the role of women in the construction industry. This year’s theme was ‘Many Paths, One Mission’, which recognized the different journeys women have taken in strengthening and amplifying the success of women in construction.
At Shimmick, we recognize that our company and our projects benefit from having women as team members. Many of our branches hosted luncheons in honor of their women team members. Some locations also hosted round tables dedicated to gaining perspective and insights from the female participants.
In addition to celebrating women at a local level, we also shared special company-wide communications aimed at celebrating some of Shimmick’s amazing team members, including Akhila Reddy, Engineer; Sabine Stephan, Document Control Manager; Jennie Davis, Associate Business Manager; Roxanna Kharrazi, Project Manager; Ana Gonzalez, Toll Service Manager; Mickie Cartwright, Safety Manager; Lorraine Kautz, Time Management Analyst; and Melissa Lacsamana, Project Controls Specialist.
