Shimmick Named ENR West’s 2026 California Contractor of the Year

Recognition highlights the company’s strategic growth, expanding self-perform capabilities, and commitment to delivering critical infrastructure across the West.

IRVINE, Calif. — Shimmick is proud to announce it has been named ENR West’s 2026 California Contractor of the Year, one of the region’s most prestigious recognitions for construction excellence.

The award recognizes Shimmick’s continued strategic growth, expanded self-perform capabilities, and successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects that strengthen communities throughout the Western United States.

Over the past year, Shimmick has continued executing its long-term strategy to become a more focused specialty infrastructure contractor. The company expanded its capabilities with the launch of Axia Electric LLC, strengthening expertise in transportation electrification, grid modernization, utility upgrades, and energy resilience while continuing to grow its leadership in water, transportation, and heavy civil infrastructure.

In 2025, Shimmick secured more than $156 million in infrastructure work across California and Washington, including major water and electrical improvements in Southern California and the Bellota Weir Modifications Project in Stockton. The company also received multiple industry awards recognizing excellence in project delivery, including the AGC of California Heavy Civil Constructor Award and two California Transportation Foundation awards.
